Principal Investigator

Tassos Natsakis is a teaching assistant and post-doctoral researcher at the ROCON lab of Technical University of Cluj-Napoca. His background is in Mechanical engineering and has done extensive research on the biomechanics of human locomotion. More specifically he studied the behaviour of the human foot in-vitro, with the goal to understand and improve surgical procedures and medical implants.

Besides research, he is very interested in teaching methods, knowledge management and productivity, in an attempt to make research more efficient, pleasant and easier to explain to others.

Mentor

Lucian Busoniu is an associate professor with the Automation Department of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, where he lead the Robotics and Nonlinear Control group. He obtained his PhD degree (cum laude) in 2009 from the Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands, and his postgraduate and MSc degrees in Control Engineering, respectively in 2004 and 2003, from TUCluj. In October 2015, he defended my habilitation thesis, conferring the right to independently supervise PhD students.

His research interests include learning and planning methods for the optimal control of nonlinear systems, in particular online planning, reinforcement learning, and approximate dynamic programming, as well as multi-agent systems and other topics.
